The Impact of Sending Children to School Too Early

Children learn to follow the process of developing their minds and thoughts. Each stage of learning must be passed properly. A good way to go through this learning stage is to provide mentoring and a place to study that suits the child’s needs. When a baby is a child, he learns directly from his mother. Through the process of exclusive breastfeeding, the gentle touch of the parents, the positive words conveyed, the warmth of the family, the use of a good mother tongue, the stimulation of the leg muscles, the hand muscles, and motor organs, children learn directly from their parents. The basic abilities of a baby are shaped by the first learning environment, namely the family.

What are the stages of children’s learning?

Since in the womb, the first time a baby learns is by listening. The ability to hear babies already exists before they are born into the world. So teach children to listen well. Practice the habit of mother and family speaking with normal intonation. Avoid speaking in a loud voice or shouting. Then use words with positive meanings, not negative meanings.

The second is the ability to feel the situation and conditions that are around. When a mother’s condition is sad, the baby in the womb also feels the same sadness. When the baby is born, he is also able to feel the love of his parents.

Third, babies are very quick and easy to remember everything that happens around them. Family plays a very important role in displaying good behavior on an ongoing basis.

The four babies can see from birth with abilities that continue to develop. Stimulation of baby’s vision using a variety of colors with sufficient lighting conditions. Because the baby’s eyesight is very sensitive to the light around it.

The five babies learn by imitating everything they see, hear, feel, every behavior, every event that is around them. All of his senses absorb information quickly.

Sixth, babies store everything they learn in their rapidly developing memory. The memory is stored well in short-term memory as well as in long-term memory. Finally, after the baby has stored all the stimulation around him, he will repeat some of these stimulations continuously until it becomes a mature behavior at the age of zero to two years.

After the baby’s learning stage is over, the next child will learn the preoperational stage. A child aged one to two years can already learn to speak with good word order. Two-way communication can also be done to understand each other with children his age and with adults around him. His psychomotor abilities learned by walking, running, jumping, grasping, throwing, pulling, and so on are functioning well.

When do children start school?

After the learning tools owned by children, both physically and psychologically have developed optimally and matured. So at the age of two to seven years, children are stimulated to learn to go to kindergarten. Children begin to be introduced to the next stage of the social environment. After the family environment has been completely passed, then the child learns at the next stage, namely the kindergarten environment. Children begin to learn to know individuals other than their families. Children also learn to interact, compete, cooperate, collaborate with new friends who are in a new environment. In this learning process, children will get to know many new characters from friends, teachers, and also everyone around them. Children learn with new companions, namely friends, teachers in new situations, in new ways. Until the age of seven children will learn many things in kindergarten. This is a complete process to continue the next stage of learning, namely elementary school.

What is the impact of sending children to school too early?

If a child does not go through the process gradually, then there will be a process that is skipped. If any process is skipped, immature behavior appears. This immature and complete behavior will be a problem for children in the future.

Intellectually, there are children at a young age who are already able to complete many things. But on the other hand, the child has not passed the maturity of other processes. A common occurrence that we can take lessons from is children who experience emotional problems when entering the school at an early age (preoperational). They can complete the material about the children above it but are still emotionally immature. So that when there is competition in social interactions, children who are not old enough become emotional and feel uncomfortable with their friends.

Likewise, when they play during recess, children who are not old enough to go to school usually stay away from their classmates because they feel that the games played by their friends are not suitable for them. And what is more worrying is that children who are not old enough to be ridiculed by their friends.

What’s the solution?

As parents, we should not be too hasty, even selfish. Feeling that our children are capable of everything, so there is no need to go through the learning process gradually. The desire of parents, the ambition of parents to make children successful achieve more quickly can damage the child’s mind. In certain cases, some children don’t want to go to school anymore because they feel they are not accepted by their friends. Some children feel they are bored with lessons so they don’t want to learn. The child just wants to play and play, he wants to take back his lost playing time due to the behavior of parents who are impatiently waiting for the learning process to mature and complete.

So complete the childhood as well as possible, meet the needs of children according to their developmental age to completion. So that in time they will become mature parents, not childish parents.
